Alice Springs
Where to stay:
Alice Springs YHA- Was ok.. clean, but only stayed to sleep then left
What to do:
- Anzac Hill (panoramic view of the city)
- Aboriginal Culture tour?
- Alice Springs telegraph station
- Historical Reserve- free 45 minute tour
- Be careful at night- especially near the dry bed of Todd River and Aboriginal “town camps"
- Kangaroo Dundee's refugee camp
Food:
- Overlander’s Steakhouse- "Drover’s Blowout”- large meal, split with people?
Uluru
- Bring insect repellent!
- 98% deet
- I did the Way Outback tour 3 day, 2 night.
- It was ok… not fantastic, not bad. The sights were incredible, and we did do a lot, but the guide was eh...
- Be prepared for a lot of driving
- I would NOT recommend doing this on your own.
- Slept under the stars in ‘swags.’
- It was cool- literally and metaphorically
- Ayer’s Rock seems to change colors at sunset
- Visit the Uluru Cultural Center
- Kata Tjuta Park is fantastic, too
- Valley of the Seven Winds Star gazing out here is fantastic
- Kings Canyon / Watarrka national park
- The Garden of Eden
- Camel Farm
